Posse Raises $500K More For A Local Discovery App That Lets Users Build “Playlists” Of Favorite Shops, Now Live In The U.S.

Posse logoPosse, a local discovery platform for web and mobile, is today arriving in the U.S. and making its iPhone app debut. The company has also just raised another $500,000 in additional funding from existing investors including Lars Rasmussen, Google Maps creator and currently Facebook’s Director of Engineering, as well as Silicon Valley angel investor Bill Tai. Rasmussen also sits on the company’s board.

eBay-Owned Social Shopping Site Svpply Debuts A New Android App

svpply_android_shopeBay-owned Svpply is debuting an Android version of its Svpply mobile application today, which brings its catalog of over 2.4 million hand-picked items from 110,000 stores to the Android operating system for the first time. The company, which was acquired by eBay just this September, had first launched on mobile in May 2012, offering both iPhone and iPad optimized versions of its service.

HashTip For iPhone Lets Moms Share Products, Deals & Ideas

hashtipHashTip is a new mobile app targeting savvy shoppers, primarily moms, who want to share tips with each other about kids’ products, activities and deals. (OK, cue snarky comment about how we already have Pinterest for that.) But unlike Pinterest, HashTip isn’t about posting “inspirational” imagery, it’s more heavily focused on social commerce. The service augments its tips with extra info, including pricing and reviews from Amazon and ratings from Yelp, for example, and it also scours deal aggregator sites to bring a selection of mom-friendly bargains to the community.

ShopInterest, The Startup That Lets You Sell From Your Pinterest Boards, Gets 500 Startups Backing

shopinterest-logoShopInterest.co, an e-commerce platform that lets anyone turn their Pinterest boards into online stores, is today announcing a small, undisclosed investment from 500 Startups, via its newly acquired fund Mexican.VC. It’s the first investment 500 Startups has made into the Pinterest ecosystem, says ShopInterest CEO Francisco Guerrero, also the creator of Pinterest analytics platform Pintics.

Now that the team is solely focused on the e-commerce space, Pintics will be shut down next month and users transitioned to former competitor Pinfluencer.

Pinterestification! Sociable Labs Signs Up Wine.com, 19 Others For Its Pinterest-Like EverShare Offering

pinterest_275wideThe Pinterest effect on e-commerce sites continues: online wine retailer Wine.com, a company with $67 million in annual revenue, is adding a social shopping component to its website which not only looks like Pinterest, but is also powered by Facebook. Wine.com says it’s using technology provided by Sociable Labs, a San Francisco-based startup which introduced its licensable “EverShare” product suite earlier this year.

But while Wine.com’s change is a notable one for them, the bigger story here is the traction that Sociable Labs is seeing, thanks to the “Pinterestification” (not a real word!) of e-commerce.

ShopSocially Launches Its Platform, Scores An Extra $550K In Funding

shopsocially-logoShopSocially, a social commerce startup, is formally announcing the launch of its social shopping platform and is revealing some of its early insights from its customer lineup. The company has worked with several hundred customers to date, including big-name brands like Sears, The Children’s Place, Sport Chalet, CafePress, Ritz, Zales and others.

We’ve also learned that the company had quietly raised an angel round of $550,000 late last year through TiE Angels, which is in addition to the $1.1 million in funding from October 2010. Participating in the round were executives from Apple, Google, and Symantec, several VCs and TiE board members, however the individuals did not want their names disclosed at this time.

Stealthy Startup Gumhouse Raises $6M+ For A “Social Stream Video Shopping Network”

gumhouse-logoA somewhat stealthy new startup called Gumhouse just raised over $6 million according to this SEC filing, and there are some big names attached to the project, it seems. According to the Gumhouse.com website, the service is described as a “social stream video shopping network,” which uses Facebook to personalize your shopping experience. After a little digging, it appears the service has already soft launched.

Listed as “Directors” on the filing are LegalZoom, ShoeDazzle, and The Honest Company co-founder Brian Lee and former Photobucket Biz Dev VP and Color co-founder Peter Pham, who’s also at Sciencethe Betworks-like technology studio/incubator based in L.A. Meanwhile, “Executive Officers” include Tom Dare, former VP of Business Intelligence at MySpace and Mike Jones, both also of Science, and RxVantage co-founder Greg Gilman. Polaris Ventures General Partner, Jason Trevisan, is listed as a director, too.
