Evernote Supersizes Its iOS Food App: Adds iPad Support; Punchfork Recipes And Foursquare Restaurant Search; And Upgraded Meal Archives

food2_ip_homeAbout a year ago, Evernote branched out from its core mission of being the place to record your life by launching apps tailored to specific purposes, focusing first on Food and contacts management (Hello). Today, the company is releasing a major update for Food on iOS that will take the app to the next level of usefulness: users will now be able to search recipe archives and look up and map places to eat; do more with their own food notes; and use the app on an iPad. Its initial partner recipes is Punchfork, while Foursquare is powering the restaurant service. An Android version, it says, will be coming soon.

Evernote Pares Down, Soups Up Image Annotation App Skitch, Extends It To iPhone, iPod

skitch_ios2 (1)Last week it was revealed that personal data management app Evernote would be integrating Skitch — the image-editing app it acquired last year that has now seen 10 million downloads — further into its service, grandfathering Skitch.com in the process. Today, the company showed off what that will mean, with the launch of Skitch 2.o, with new features like pixelation, instant integration with your existing Evernote account, and, for the first time, availability on iPhone and iPod touch. (That also puts it in closer quarters with Snapseed, the iPhone-based image editing app bought earlier this week by Google.)

Evernote By The Numbers: 34M Users, 1.4M Paying, And The Relative Merits Of Different Platforms

libin with loicPhil Libin, the CEO of note taking app Evernote, is sitting on a $1 billion valuation and plans for an IPO, and while it may be a while yet before it follows through on going public , today at LeWeb in London he revealed new numbers for just how much the service is getting used, and how much money different platforms are bringing into the pot.

He said that the company now has 34 million users overall across all platforms — mobile and web — with the number of paying users now at 1.4 million: that’s a significant rise on the 25 million overall and 1 million paying users Evernote last reported as recently as May, when it announced its $70 million round.
