Why Isn’t Your Sales Rep on Social?

At a recent conference, we found one of our clients skillfully networking and working the room. They were doing a fantastic job and garnering some good leads despite a luke warm attendee list at the conference. When Marty spoke with them, he noticed that they didn’t have any social information for him to connect with the sales people online. After returning, he wrote the business to let them know and they were honest and said their sales team wasn’t really that social. You have to be kidding me. While LinkedIn … Continue reading

Foursquare Launches Check-In Report Emails

Our stats are a bit thin, but I was happy to see this comprehensive location report come from Foursquare a few minutes ago! The report provides a weekly snapshot on who has checked in, what the reach is, whether they shared the check-in, and top customers. Of course, there’s also a call-to-action to run some campaigns on the site, too… so Foursquare is looking to increase their revenue. Kudos to the Foursquare team, though, on producing a report that’s both valuable to their clients and that can grow their own … Continue reading

Google Ramping Up Authorship in Webmasters

We keep an eye out on our clients’ webmasters accounts. It’s no coincidence, in my opinion, that our clients rank well as we’re able to significantly identify and reduce the errors that pop up in Webmasters. Google continues to advance its algorithms beyond the tried and true games that many SEO companies played in the past. Authorship is playing a growing role in this. By utilizing social queues on popularity, Google is advancing their pagerank algorithm and significantly improving the quality of results by not just measuring link popularity, but … Continue reading

Do You See What Google Fetches?

We’ve had two issues this month where our customers’ sites were working perfectly for the visitor but Google Webmasters was reporting errors. In one case, the client was attempting to write some of the content utilizing Javascript. In the other case, we identified that the hosting another client was using was redirecting visitors correctly… but not the Googlebot. As a result, Webmasters was continuing to generate 404 errors instead of following the redirect that we’d implemented. Googlebot is Google’s web crawling bot (sometimes also called a “spider”). Crawling is the … Continue reading

Infographic: Like Us! A Survey of Users on Brand Engagement

Why do people like brands on Facebook? Lab42 surveyed 1000 social media users to discover how liking a brand influences the consumer experience. The results are quite interesting and, in my opinion, point to a huge gap in the expectations of consumers on your brand’s Facebook interactions and how brands are actually using Facebook. The majority of brands that I see on Facebook simply use it as a publishing tool… but this infographic may have you rethink that strategy! Lately we’ve heard a lot of debate about the value of … Continue reading
