SEO Services UK – Is PPC the Holy Grail, 94% of Searchers Say No!

In a recent report conducted by GroupM carried out with Nielsen, Evaluating the Search Marketing Landscape it was found that only 6% of clicks were from paid search while a massive 94% were from searches in the organic listings. This in itself highlights the importance of SEO services for business.

The research was based on 28 million people in the UK, making a total of 1.4bn searches a month. Yes, that was 1.4bn searches a month for the month of June 2011, which equates to 50 searches for each person.

Women tended to click on paid search adds slightly more than men taking 53% of the clicks while the most popular age group for people clicking on Pay per click adds were people over the age of 55.

Branded searches, such as Sony TV, resulted in 80% click through on the first result while non branded searches such as 42” TV resulted in only 35% of click through on the first result and in fact had a greater amount of people clicking through results further down the page. This can be explained by the fact that people using a non branded search term could still be in the information gathering stage of searches as opposed to knowing what they want and going straight for it.
